SKIN
A contemporary musical exploring memory, identity, and what passes between mother and child.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
SKIN is an elemental, impressionistic, and painful examination of entanglement — and the damage that keeping secrets can do.
Siobh discovers old photos of their mother, Cath, with Cath’s ex-lover Heather, and Cath’s long-repressed memories flood her mind like a rising tide.
Cath’s haunted past collides with Siobh’s betrayal at never knowing their mother was as queer as they are, dragging us in and out of memory.
Finally, Cath must choose: will she continue to deny the emotions she should have felt long ago, or will she open the floodgates to her pain and joy — finally letting Siobh see the whole of her?
Inspired by Selkie folklore from Scotland and Ireland, this work draws on folk music to explore the inner lives of its characters with the sensibility of an abstract painting.
